Oregon-Davis Students Compete in Future City Competition
Two Oregon-Davis students had the chance to present their solution to a real-world problem at this year’s Future City Competition. Starke County K9 Performs Routine Sweep at Local School
The Starke County Sheriff’s Department K9 did a routine sweep at the Oregon-Davis School Corporation on Thursday morning.
Handler Rob Olejniczak took K9 Terror around the corporation to search for possible drugs in lockers and the parking lot. No evidence of any illegal drugs was found.
Starke County Sheriff Bill Dulin and the officers are appreciative of the school’s effort to keep Starke County a safe environment. Principal Tim Pletcher and School Resource Officer Frank Lonigro were also recognized for their efforts.

Oregon-Davis High School Stages Mock Car Crash
The Oregon-Davis High School’s Student’s Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) organization teamed up with the school’s two resource officers to make the consequences of drunk driving eminent to students who will be attending prom this weekend.
They staged a two-vehicle crash with a fatality and multiple injuries in the school parking lot Friday afternoon. Some of the students wore prom dresses and were made up to replicate real car crash victims. Empty beer cans were also scattered across the cars and outside of the vehicles to imply the drivers were intoxicated.
Newly Approved Principal Eager to Begin at O-D
The Oregon-Davis School Board recently named a new high school principal to take the place of Greg Briles.
Tim Pletcher has been in education for the past 19 years and has spent his entire career at South Bend schools – mainly at Washington High School. He completed his undergraduate work at IUSB and he got his Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois. He also completed a doctorate at the University of Illinois and licensing at Indiana Wesleyan.
Oregon-Davis School Board Hires New High School Principal
The Oregon-Davis School Board members approved the employment of a new high school principal during their meeting Monday night.
Superintendent Dr. Steve Disney said a search team was formed which consisted of faculty members, administrators and the superintendent and they all reviewed 26 applications that were submitted for the position. They screened the applicants and chose 10 to return for the first round of interviews. From there, four were selected to present plans to the committee that pertained to leadership of the Oregon-Davis High School and its future. Three were then selected to present those plans to the committee and the school board.
