The SCILL center in Knox is touting the performance of one of its students at a state-level competition.
Automotive technology students at the jobs training center attended the SkillsUSA competition in Hammond. Knox High School student Austin Burton placed third in the regional contest, allowing him to move onto the state competition.

The handling officer for the dog has decided to accept a job in another county. K-9 units are often used to locate drugs or missing persons, but training them requires quite a few resources.

The handling officer for the animal has decided to accept a job in White County. The dog originally cost Pulaski County about $8-thousand with another $8-thousand for training. What to do with the K-9 Unit is now up to the discretion of the Pulaski County Commissioners.

Starke County Emergency responders are now better equipped to deliver treatment to possible overdose victims.
According to Starke County Sheriff Bill Dulin, deputies, EMT’s, and firefighters attended training earlier this month to administer Naloxone. The product is considered to be a fast-acting measure to help reverse the affects of drug overdose.
WorkOne in Plymouth is working to get veterans the services they need to find work and transition back to civilian life.
Interest is being gathered to help host the seminar in the area. According to a press release, WorkOne is hoping to help veterans cope with change, resume preparation, and networking.

Local emergency services organizations will be conducting a training exercise on December 10th. The exercise will take place at the Knox High School between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.
The training will consist of various departments including the Knox Police Department, Starke County Sheriff’s Department, Hamlet Police Department, and the Knox Fire Department. Also participating in the training will be Starke County EMS, Starke County Emergency Management and IU Health Starke Hospital.
Again, when you see all of the emergency personnel at the high school Saturday, this is only a training session.
