The U.S. 35 bridge in Downtown LaPorte will be closed for much of the day tomorrow, March 27, as NIPSCO upgrades its lines above the highway. INDOT says U.S. 35 will be closed between State Road 2 and Washington Street from about 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The right northbound lane is also expected to be closed on Monday, March 29 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The planned closure of U.S. 35 in Downtown LaPorte has been postponed. INDOT says NIPSCO is planning to upgrade its lines above the highway. That will require the U.S. 35 bridge to close while work is taking place.

Construction crews are wrapping up the U.S. 35 bridge project in Knox.
Indiana Department of Transportation Spokesman Matt Deitchley said that they are working on some paving and guardrails and some work will be completed after the bridge opens to both lanes of traffic this week. The original deadline for the project was November, but swift progress was made during the good weather days we had throughout the summer.
The entire bridge deck was replaced as the old surface was deteriorating quickly.
Construction to Begin on U.S. 35 Bridge in Knox
The U.S. 35 bridge over the Yellow River in Knox will undergo a re-decking construction project beginning Monday, April 30th.
During construction, travel will be restricted to one lane at a time. A traffic signal has been stationed on both sides of the bridge to control the flow of traffic. The traffic signal will be operational beginning today.
