Hamlet’s utility employees are getting some new equipment. Water and Street Superintendent Fred Rowe told the town council Wednesday that the water plant’s chlorine room needs a new scale, in order to remain in compliance. Council members approved the purchase of a double digital scale, for just over $22,000.
Town of Culver to Update Water Plant
The Town of Culver is planning a complete overhaul of its water plant.
Culver Town Manager David Schoeff told WKVI that town officials are working to apply for an Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) grant worth $400,000. This will help in obtaining the $1 million needed for the upgrades. The town will also apply for a state revolving loan.
Schoeff said the council members are hoping that the town is approved for the grant this year and construction can start next year.
