The Winamac Town Council discussed the town pool at length during their regularly scheduled meeting this week.
According to Town Manager Jim Conner, a representative from Reno Sys, a pool rehabilitation company in Indianapolis, discussed plans for the pool. It’s going to be expensive and it’s going to be a large project.
Winamac residents no longer need to let their faucets drip to keep their pipes from freezing. That’s the word from town manager Jim Conner. He tells WKVI news water lines in town have finally thawed out and thanks residents for their cooperation. Also, Conner says any residents who no longer want the small recycling containers provided by the town can put them out, empty, with their trash on your collection day April 7th or 8th. The town will pick them up on those days.
The Winamac Town Board discussed the funds going toward the Winamac Municipal Pool and how much money is being sunk into the deteriorating structure.
Town Manager Jim Conner said the maintenance on the 50-year pool is costly and the board wanted the opinion of town residents on what to do about the pool.
The town of Winamac is continuing its efforts to become ADA compliant, and Town Manager Jim Conner said they’ve still got a few steps to go on the long road to compliance. The town held a public meeting earlier this week to get the public informed about the plan and hear any ideas that residents may have.
Conner said they’ve still got inventory work to do for sidewalks and curb ramps to get an idea of which areas need to be reworked to ensure compliance. On top of that, the town will soon be installing truncated domes at the end of crosswalks to ensure the visually-impaired know they are approaching a street crosswalk.
