The North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation is accepting applications for the junior-senior high school principal’s job for a few more days. The school board voted earlier this year to merge the middle and high schools in order to save money.
Last month the school board promoted N.J.-S.P. High school Principal Annette Zupin to superintendent, effective July 1. Middle School Principal Kelly Shepherd was on the reduction in force list approved by the board on March 15th.
The North Newton School Board hired Shepherd as principal of Lincoln Elementary School in Demotte during their April 11 meeting. He starts there July 1.
Zupin says N.J.-S.P. is still accepting applications through Friday, June 3, with interviews to be conducted the following week. She says a collaborative group comprising of teachers, students and community members will interview and recommend a candidate or candidates to the school board. They will then interview the finalist(s) before making a decision in union with the superintendent as to whom to hire.
Students return to school at N.J.-S.P. on Thursday, Aug. 4. Teacher work days are scheduled Aug. 2 and 3.
