La Porte County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident in the area of State Road 2 and County Road 500 West Monday, July 8 at 5:24 a.m. CT which resulted in the death of the driver.
Police say an investigation found that a white 2015 Kia was traveling westbound on State Road 2 when it left the north side of the roadway and began traveling in a northwest direction. The vehicle crashed into a tree located on the northwest corner of the intersection of State Road 2 and County Road 500 West, according to the report.
The driver, 62-year-old George M. Dobos, of Westville, was the lone occupant and he was found inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Toxicology tests are pending. The crash investigation is ongoing and no other information is available for release.
The La Porte County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Westville Police Department, Scipio Township and Westville Volunteer Fire Departments, La Porte County EMS, and La Porte County Coroner’s Office.
