Report of Armed Robbery in Knox Ends with Arrest

Officers from the Knox City Police Department arrested a Knox man Wednesday, July 3 after investigating a report of an armed robbery that occurred in the 500 block of Shield Street just after 7 p.m. CT.

Police say the victim informed them that an African American man entered her residence wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. The man reportedly brandished a knife and demanded the victim’s wallet, purse and money.

After taking approximately $43 from the victim, the man fled southbound on Shield Street.

As a result of the investigation, 28-year-old Deion Allen Kendrick was arrested and booked into the Starke County Justice Center on preliminary felony charges of armed robbery with a deadly weapon and burglary with a deadly weapon.

Formal charges will be determined by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
