The totals are in from this past weekend’s food drive at the Knox Mall. WKVI collected $2167.73, and 1,469 pounds of food. Added to that total of food is 1,125 pounds from Boy Scout Pak #281 in North Judson for a total of 2,594 pounds of food. A big thank you again from Joan Haugh and everyone at Community Services of Starke County who received the money and food for their food pantry.
Pulaski County Human Services Director, Jackie Frain, says that the food pantry in Winamac has had special support from the community. “We’ve had special projects from an Eagle Scout, we get a lot of help from the Beef Producers and the Pork Producers. Ortman’s takes care of butchering the meat that is donated to us. It just seems like there’s always somebody coming out and saying that they want to help.”
This Thanksgiving, as you sit down to eat that Turkey dinner, remember those that are less fortunate than yourself and pledge to give to a food pantry in your county or community all year long.
