17th District State Representative, Nancy Dembowski (D-Knox), has received her committee assignments for the 2011 and 2012 sessions of the Indiana General Assembly. House Democratic Leader, B. Patrick Bauer (D-South Bend) recommended Dembowski for the following committees: Local Government, Commerce, Small Business and Economic Development, and Natural Resources. In addition, Dembowski will be the ranking Democrat on the Roads and Transportation Committee.
“I am the ranking minority member on the Roads and Transportation Committee and that’s a Committee that I just have a real affinity for,” said Dembowski. “I’ve been on it for the time that I’ve been in the House. I just think it’s a crucial Committee. The infrastructure of the State is going to have so much to do with its economic future. It’s a good Committee with some good members on it. The new Chairman, Ed Soliday from Valparaiso, will be a good Committee Chair, following Chairman Terry Austin, from Anderson, who was a great Chairman too. It’s a good Committee and I’m hopeful that we can do some really beneficial things for the State.”
