Last week, Knox Mayor Rick Chambers reminded the City Council members that the cost of garbage pickup in the City would increase on August 1st. The total cost will go up just over $5,000.
“In 2010, it was $206,967.60,” the Mayor told the Council. “On July 31st, it will go up to 212,076.”
The increase per customers is only pennies.
“The year goes from August 1st, 2011 through July 31st, 2012, and the amount paid per residence $13.70 for garbage pickup. It is $13.37 now.”
This is the final year of a three year contract with Waste Management. The contract is for both garbage pick up and recycling.
