The March unemployment rate in Indiana and in all those Counties in the Kankakee Valley area dropped from February, according to the latest figures from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. Starke County dropped a full percentage point to 11.2%. That’s still a ranking of 10th highest of the state’s 92 counties.
Pulaski County’s rate was at 7.9%. That reflects a drop of .4%. The county is ranked at #73.
And Marshall County, ranked at #26 for March, showed a drop of .6% from the February rate to an even 10% unemployment.
The overall state rate fell to 8.5%, marking 13 months in a row in which the rate was lower than it was a month earlier. All seven counties here in Northwest Indiana showed an unemployment rate decline from February.
