The Bass Lake Summer Splash Festival is the last week in July, but before the big event, a queen and court needs to be selected. Queen Pageant Director, Dana White, reports that seven young ladies between the ages of 14 and 18 are competing for the tiara.
“The Miss Teen Bass Lake Pageant is on Friday, July 22nd, at 6:00 p.m. CT at the Shore Club,” said White. “There’s only 75 seats in the banquet room so if you’re coming to watch someone you better come early.”
“They have multiple duties the weekend of the Bass Lake Summer Splash. This year, for something different, we’re going to have at least a few of them, including the participants, go to each event that Festival weekend and report back to the President and Secretary the results from each event so they’re actually doing something instead of just being there. They will have a little more involvement this year.”
Dana White was the Summer Splash Queen in 2007. She tells us about her experience, and how it has helped her organize this year’s pageant.
“Back then, we were just in the parade and just the Queen got to go to different things. I got to pick the Queen’s choice car at the car show and stuff like that. At least having experience and knowing that I really didn’t get to do a lot, I want more for the ladies this time. I want them to be able to go to more events and I think I’m going to put them in more parades around the area, like the Harvest Fest parade and the Blueberry Festival parade.”
