The annual Economy Auto Sales Customer Appreciation Party was held at Wythogan Park yesterday. In one hour, over 400 hotdogs and 550 hamburgers were served.
There was fun for the kids and giveaways.
“The rain in the morning stopped long enough to have the picnic and it started sprinkling at the end,” said George Mammarella. “I don’t have a final count, but I think we had about 400 people.”
Economy Auto does a lot for the community. “We try and our customers really appreciate it,” continued Mammarella. “We had a lot of giveaways. We had $300 gas cards, we had a big screen TV, several hundred smaller prizes, children’s bicycles, and one customer had his auto loan paid off in full.”
George and Della Mammarella are not only business people in the community, but they are people who believe in giving back, too. Ted asked George about those organizations that he supports.
“We’re a corporate sponsor for the Starke County Youth Club and I’m also on the Board of the SCILL Center. Several times a year we have a fundraiser for the Food Bank. As a matter of fact, this month for every car we sell, we’re giving $30 to the food bank and as of right now, they’re going to be getting a check for over $1,000.”
