It appears that the Knox City Council members will be getting a two percent salary increase after all.
On the first reading of the ordinance giving an across-the-board increase for employees and city officials, the motion died with a 2-2-1 vote. Linda Berndt and Ron Parker favored eliminating council members from the raise.
Last week, the ordinance was amended and the ordinance passed 3-2. Berndt and Parker voted against the increase while Greg Matt, Ed Blue and Jeff Berg voted for the increase. The third and final vote on the ordinance will be made at the next meeting.
