Sugarland’s lead singer, Jennifer Nettles, said in an interview that aired last night on ABC’s “In the Spotlight With Robin Roberts” that she will always be connected with the people who were at the deadly concert last summer in Indianapolis. She said she especially identifies with those who perished in the tragic incident in which a stage collapsed at the Indiana State Fair.
One of the victims was 42-year-old Tammy Vandam, of Wanatah.
Nettles said she didn’t see the stage rigging be blown onto fans awaiting the concert because band members were still underneath the stage.
Suddenly, though, she said, “I heard the wind and then a crashing sound, horrible metal twisting sound, and then the ceiling of the dressing room shuddered. Everyone rushed for safety.”
Sugarland returned to Indianapolis last month for a benefit concert. Seven people were killed and dozens injured in the collapse.
