The Knox Community School Board has taken action against a teacher accused of inappropriate behavior with a 16-year-old student.
“The Board did approve a letter of suspension with pay for Mr. Ryan Corbin, teacher at Knox High School,” said Superintendent A.J. Gappa. “Beyond that, I’m not at liberty to discuss personnel matters so I have no further comment.”
The Board approved the letter during their regular Board meeting last night.
Corbin’s bond was set yesterday at $15,000 by Starke Circuit Court Judge Kim Hall and he has since bonded out of the Starke County Jail. Corbin, 27, a Knox High School gym teacher and boys and girls varsity swim coach, is charged with two counts of Attempted Child Seduction, as Class D felonies.
Police interviewed both the student and Corbin and they both allegedly admitted to having conversations with each other. Inappropriate Facebook messages were sent, and conversations were also held via telephone and texting.
An initial hearing is expected to take place later this week in Starke Circuit Court.
