The 32nd annual ABATE/MDA ride is coming up this month. The LaPorte County Fairgrounds will be host to the event, sponsored by ABATE of Indiana Region 2, made up of dedicated members from seven northern Indiana counties including Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Starke, Jasper, Newton, and Pulaski.
ABATE is a motorcycle rights and safety organization that believes in the freedom of the road with an emphasis on achieving the safest motorcycling conditions in the state – but they also believe in helping those who are in need. For 32 years, the organization has raised over $3 million for Muscular Distrophy Association research and local patient service programs.
All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the MDA family program services. Sponsored by ABATE Region 2, 7-Up, Citgo, and X Rock 103.9, the event welcomes all motorcycles with a minimum donation of $25.
The ride departs at 2 p.m. on Aug. 25, but gates open early at 11 a.m. Bone Naked will provide entertainment at the event, and there will also be field events, vendors, and a bike show. Event flyers can be picked up at Harley Davidson of Valparaiso, Michigan City Harley Davidson, Calumet Harley Davidson, B&E Honda, or any motorcycle retailer.
