The statewide crackdown on impaired and dangerous driving, known as Blitz 72, will begin today and run until Sept. 3.
“Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” is a national campaign funded and led by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Thousands of officers from more than 250 law enforcement agencies throughout the state will be on the roads to enforce impaired driving laws.
While the risk of being injured is high for those who drive impaired, the consequences of getting arrested are equally high. An Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated charge can cause you to incur huge legal fees, lose your driver’s license, raise your insurance rates, damage your career, and inflict personal embarrassment.
This enforcement blitz will cover the Labor Day weekend. One hundred forty fatality crashes were reported in Indiana last year and more than 2,000 injuries were attributed to alcohol-related crashes.
