Kersting’s Cycle Center will be celebrating its 50th anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
As part of the festivities at the business located four miles south of North Judson on Highway 39, there will be free refreshments, hourly door prizes, and music form accordionist Tom Royce and the “Monday Night Pickers” featuring owner and founder Jim Kersting.
Kersting remembers when Kersting’s Cycle Center was just a 28-foot by 72-foot cement block building back in 1962 and now it has grown to 27,000 square feet of Harley-Davidson, Kawasaki and Yamaha showroom and service space. Jim Kersting’s vintage collection, which has more than 100 bikes, is housed on site.
The only thing equal to the Kersting family’s love of motorcycles is their commitment to the community. Every year Kersting’s holds their annual charity event, “Motorcycles, Music, and Memories,” that helps raise money for charities such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Nella Kersting Memorial Scholarship, and Toys for Kids. Kersting says that there are still plenty of opportunities and possibilities awaiting the business in the future.
