A Knox man was recently arrested after he allegedly stole items from vehicles parked at Community Services of Starke County.
Knox City Police officers were called to Community Services of Starke County after the suspect, Matthew Lemarr, was reportedly seen going through vehicles in the parking lot and items were coming up missing.
Lemarr was suspected of stealing a cell phone and when he denied the allegation, the owner of the phone gave the police officer the phone number and the officer dialed the number. The owner’s phone started ringing in Lemarr’s shorts pocket. The officer confiscated the phone.
Lemarr was also reportedly in possession of items taken from four other vehicles in the parking lot including a GPS system, cash and another cell phone. Those items were retrieved by the jailer when Lemarr was searched at the Starke County Jail, along with controlled substances and suspected marijuana.
Lemarr was booked into the Starke County Jail on preliminary charges of Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance and five counts of Theft.
