License branches will extend hours of operation on Monday, Nov. 5 and Tuesday, Nov. 6 to issue ID cards and driver’s licenses that may be used for identification on Election Day.
A state-issued photo ID is required in order to cast a ballot at the polls or to vote absentee. A birth certificate or passport can also be used to verify identification.
BMV branches, including the branches in Knox, Winamac, Plymouth and Walkerton, will be open Monday, Nov. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, Nov. 6 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Normal hours will resume Wednesday, Nov. 7.
On that Monday and Tuesday, license branch staff members will only process new, amended or replacement ID cards and renewed, amended or replacement driver’s licenses, learner permits and CDLs. They will only provide free, state-issued ID cards for voting purposes to you if you are not licensed, as long as you can provide proper documentation that you are old enough to vote.
