A Walkerton man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a Knox woman.
Police were called to a residence on 650 North in Starke County and when they arrived at the home, the caller said that the suspect, Darell Keiper, was in a bedroom pretending to sleep. Keiper had an active arrest warrant through Knox City Court and he was taken into custody.
The victim told police that Keiper was drunk and they had been fighting. He allegedly pushed her around in the kitchen and they moved to the bedroom to talk things out and he reportedly wrapped his hands around her throat and held her down on the bed.
Police noted that all involved in this incident were intoxicated. Keiper, 46, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of Battery and a felony charge of Strangulation. He has a $10,000 surety bond.
