A Hamlet man was arrested after threatening his brother with a knife.
In the overnight hours Tuesday morning, Hamlet police were called to 609 Davis St. where a call had come in from a woman saying her intoxicated son reportedly tore up the house and he had a knife.
The caller said Justin Boyle had confronted his brother with a large knife and the brother was able to escape the house and call 911 at a neighbor’s house. Boyle tried to keep his mother from talking to 911 dispatchers and was unable to get out of the house.
When the Hamlet Police Chief arrived on scene, he reportedly observed Boyle smashing things inside the residence. As officers were about to make entry into the house, Boyle came out the front door and began yelling at police. Officers ordered Boyle to the ground and he was taken into custody. As Boyle was placed into the squad car, he continued to be violent and kicked the windows out of the car. Boyle was tazed in order to stop his aggressive behavior. He was then transported to the Starke County Jail without further incident.
Boyle has preliminary felony charges of Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon, Criminal Confinement, Criminal Mischief, and misdemeanor charges of Battery, Disorderly Conduct, Interference with Reporting a Crime, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia.
