During an executive session held earlier this week by the North Judson Town Board, the board members reviewed eight qualified candidates for the two soon-to-be-open seats on the board. Since the public question on the General Election ballot as to whether or not the town board should expand to five members passed overwhelmingly, Clerk-Treasurer Donna Henry said the board must now choose two candidates to fill the two new seats on the board.
The board reviewed each of the eight potential candidates and selected the two most qualified, and Henry said they will be contacting the two chosen to make sure they will take the appointment to the board. While she did not reveal the identity of the two chosen, she said they will be announced at the next meeting of the North Judson Town Board on Monday, Dec. 17.
Henry said the eight candidates were a mix of nominations and volunteers, as a number of people sent letters to the clerk’s office expressing their interest in becoming part of the board. The board spoke with several people regarding the two open seats, but a number of people said they weren’t interested in joining the board.
The five-member board ordinance was recently presented to the county clerk to be recorded, and Henry said the two new board members will take their seats on Jan. 1.
