The Eastern Pulaski School Board this week held a public hearing regarding the corporation’s budget. Superintendent Dr. Robert Klitzman explained that as a fiscal year school, they do things a little bit differently.
“We are a fiscal year school, so what we are working on now is a budget that will come into play in July. Here we are in December, we’re doing this thing for July, but we have to work that far in advance,” said Klitzman.
Klitzman explained that the budget hearing was basically the second of a series of three steps that need to be taken for budget approval. Last month, the board gave authorization to advertise the budget in local newspapers. This month, the board held the public hearing; the final step will take place in January, when the board formally adopts the budget.
Following that, Klitzman explained the budget will be sent to Indianapolis to be reviewed, and then more public meetings will be held.
