A Starke County man was arrested recently amidst allegations that he invited a child to engage in inappropriate physical contact.
Rodney Freet, Jr. is accused of Child Solicitation after a juvenile girl told her father that Freet had invited her to engage in the inappropriate conduct.
Special Prosecutor Michael Krebes of Kokomo was appointed to the case and told WKVI that there are no allegations that the conduct ever took place, and said there are no allegations of inappropriate touching. Rather, the charges allege that Freet attempted to invite the child to engage in the inappropriate contact but the contact never occurred.
Regardless, Freet is charged with soliciting the girl after the girl’s dad reported the allegations to Child Protective Services and to a counselor that the victim has been seeing.
Freet was arrested but has since bonded out of jail on a $25,000 surety bond. He is to have no contact with the victim in the case, and is scheduled to appear for his initial hearing on Friday at 9 a.m. in the Starke Circuit Court.
