An Illinois man was sentenced in Marshall County Superior Court 1 to 10 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.
Jerome Williams, 39 of Dixmoor, Ill., pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state to a charge of Dealing Cocaine. Judge Robert O. Bowen ordered him to serve 10 years on that count and suspended no part of the sentence.
The charge stems from an incident on Nov. 13, 2012 when Williams battered his girlfriend. She was left at the Pilot Truck Stop on King Road. Police later arrested her for Public Intoxication and she was booked into the Marshall County Jail.
She was released from the jail and made arrangements for Williams to pick her up at the jail. When he arrived, he was taken into custody for battery. His vehicle was impounded and during a search of the vehicle, police found 43.5 grams of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Police learned that Williams was a large dealer of cocaine in the Fort Wayne area with weekly deliveries from Illinois.
