The Eastern Pulaski School Board members did agree to apply for two routine grants.
Superintendent Dr. Robert Klitzman explained that the corporation will be applying for Title One and Higher Ability federal grants.
The money received for Higher Ability allows funding for some Saturday programs and for other academic uses. The Title One grant money is to help students that struggle in certain grades.
“We primarily spend that on additional instructional assistants so we can break down and have small groups working with an adult in a very targeted, focused way on math and reading skills so they can get back up to grade level,” said Klitzman. “Reading skills are the most important part of any elementary school and is definitely a part of our elementary school.”
