The Marshall County Commissioners heard a request from Prosecutor David Holmes for the use of a credit card for the prosecutor’s office.
Holmes told the commissioners that he and his staff are constantly going to conferences and thought it may be handy to have a credit card to pay for needed expenses.
Auditor Penny Lukenbill offered Holmes information on usual protocol. She stated that whenever anyone needs to fund a trip to a conference, especially an overnight stay, she gets all of the expense information in advance and she cuts a check for expenses. This is to keep from getting a credit card and avoid potential fraud issues.
Holmes agreed and will be using that method of prepayment.
He invited the Marshall County Commissioners to come to the office and see what’s going on in the office. He added that the office is terribly cramped and may need to be expanded in the future. The prosecutor’s office employs 14 full-time and part-time staff members.
