The Winamac Town Board this week discussed the 50/50 sidewalk program which has recently kicked off with a budget of $10,000. However, some people have already put in new sidewalks and have asked the town that they be reimbursed, and board member Richard Denney suggested to look into the possibility of reimbursing those residents after all applications have been received. If there is money left over, he would like to see the people reimbursed.
Town Manager Jim Conner asked the council if sections of the sidewalk could be replaced instead of the entire sidewalk, and the council indicated that repairing only sections would be fine.
The board also discussed bids for tree removal. Two bids were received for the work, one of which was from Heims Tree Service bidding $3800, and C&J Tree Service who bid $6275. Board member Tom Murray made a motion to accept the bid from Heims Tree Service to remove the trees. The council passed the motion unanimously.
