The goal for the Moving Starke County Forward walking challenge has been shattered, according to IU Health Starke Hospital Wellness Specialist Heather Skelly.
The goal was to walk from the Statue of Liberty in New York to the Golden Gate Bridge in California. So far, participants have walked all the way from the Statue of Liberty to Honolulu, Hawaii.
The original goal of 3,000 miles which has been achieved, and then some.
Over 200 people have registered in the event, including four staff members here at WKVI. Skelly reminds you to turn in your weekly totals so your effort counts.
It’s not too late to sign up. You can find a registration and tracking form at the library branches in Starke County or call Heather Skelly at (574) 772-1272. After you register, Skelly will email a link so you can log your steps on a daily or weekly basis online.
The contest runs until Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2.
