A local legislator has received the distinguished Clifford D. Arnold Lions Club Memorial Award for Public Service.
Republican State Representative Tom Dermody was presented the award at a ceremony hosted by the Michigan City Lions Club. Dermody was honored for his dedication to serving Hoosiers.
The award honors the memory of deceased Lions Club member and former LaPorte County Sheriff and State Representative Cliff Arnold. It is presented to any current or past office holder in LaPorte County that demonstrates a history of devoted and dedicated public service.
Dermody received this award for his work during the 2013 legislative session. Dermody fought to protect LaPorte County taxpayers by authoring House Enrolled Act 1261. He also worked to advance higher education policy and sought to benefit Hoosier families.
