Starke County Treasurer to Soon Switch Property Tax Billing Vendor

The Starke County Treasurer’s Office will soon be changing their vendor for property tax billing after Treasurer Kasey Clark approached the commissioners with a request for the change. She said the current vendor messed up and caused a “nightmare,” prompting her to search for other vendors.

It’s a good thing she did, as the new vendor she found will actually save the county some money. She said the vendor is $1700 cheaper, but the only downside is the company is out of Washington while the previous vendor was from the Granger area. However, she said the money is available in her budget for the change because they are merely switching vendors at no additional expense.

Commissioner Kent Danford made a motion to approve her request and the motion passed unanimously.
