The Knox City Council last night approved a number of fund transfers and encumbrances as they prepared for the end of the year. Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston told the council that this tidying-up of the books is necessary to ensure that all funds are in the black before the beginning of the new year.
Among the encumbrances was a Board of Works encumbrance in the general fund for $163,378.52 from the insurance city share line item for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, as well as two encumbrances from the park and recreation fund. The encumber funds resolution called for $1362 to be held over from the contractual services item for the Momper and $11,399 to be encumbered from the playground equipment line item for the Kidstuff Playsystems equipment.
A $39,276 encumbrance was also approved in the cumulative sewer treatment fund for a seldge.
