The North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department has received a couple new pieces of equipment, thanks to the township trustee. The township purchased a new positive pressure fan and two new task force tip nozzles for the fire department, allowing them to more effectively fight fires and prevent further property damage.
Fire Chief Joe Leszek told WKVI that the positive pressure fans are used to ventilate homes after a fire to clear the smoke and prevent further damage. While the department already has one such fan, Leszek said this second fan will allow them to ventilate two homes simultaneously – something they were previously unable to do.
The new task force tips allow firefighters to adjust the flow of the water and change the patterns of the nozzle, Leszek said.
The total cost of the items came to $3800.
