Seventy-five children were treated to toys and clothes as part of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department Shop with a Cop event on Sunday, Dec. 8.
$4,200 was raised toward this effort and $175 was able to be spent by each child.
Pulaski County Sheriff Michael Gayer thanks all who sacrificed a little to give a child a lot this holiday season. He added that this program helps add great memories to those in law enforcement, especially the smiles and laughter of the children picking out toys and clothes.
Gayer said one child decided to give up some of his gifts in order to purchase a gift for his mother. Another boy asked for some of his allowance to be spent on a gift for his sister.
Sheriff Gayer gives out special thanks to his officers, the Winamac Police Department and the Indiana State Police officers who spent their day with the kids to help them pick out their treasures.
