The Knox Community School Board members recognized those involved in the Reality Store held recently at the Knox Middle School.

Superintendent A.J. Gappa explained that all eighth grade students from Knox, North Judson-San Pierre, Oregon-Davis, and Culver Community students participated in this event. Business leaders and volunteers from organizations from around the area helped the students get a dose of what it is to survive out in the real world.

“They’re given salaries and jobs based upon their grade point averages and their grades in school,” stated Gappa. “It’s just to give them a wake up call to what the expense of items are and how they have to work to afford things and so forth.”

This program also assists students in finding a potential career with their abilities and what they need to work on to be in a career that they are seeking.

The board members were excited to hear of the continued success of the program that has been offered and hosted for several years at the Knox Middle School.
