The Starke County Commissioners will meet this evening to discuss the possible purchase of an ambulance for the county EMS department. Director Paul Mathewson and Mary Lynn Ritchie approached the commissioners at their previous meeting to present the information, and Mathewson presented the ambulance quotes to County Attorney Marty Lucas for his review.
Two quotes were presented, the lowest of which came from Medix Specialty Vehicles who quoted $112,753 for a Ford E450 Super Duty ambulance conversion. Commissioner Kathy Norem asked that the bids be taken under advisement to allow Commissioner Kent Danford, Councilman Dave Pearman and Mathewson to review them. A motion was passed unanimously to do so.
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. when the county council will gather to discuss transfer requests and a quarterly capital asset report from IU Health, among other discussion items.
