Conner said the town had paid roughly $156,000 last year to provide the service themselves and decided to accept bids to see if they could save some money by hiring a company to provide the service instead. Three bids were submitted, with Advanced Disposal Services providing the lowest bid.
The contract, Conner said, will last for five years. When the town provided the service, Conner said they saw an annual increase in cost of roughly five percent; now, with Advanced Disposal Services providing the service, they expect to see less than a five percent increase per year, saving them even more money over the duration of the contract.
