The trees will soon be gloriously lit in Winamac and North Judson with tree lighting ceremonies scheduled in both towns on Friday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. local time. In North Judson, a small parade will take place at 5:45 p.m. The lighting of the trees will then be performed by a child from the crowd who will pull the switch to turn on the lights. Following that, Reimbold said there will be hot cocoa, cookies and refreshments at the old firehouse with an appearance from Santa Claus himself.
In Winamac, the town kicks off Winter Wonderland scheduled for Dec. 6 and 7 with a lighting of a tree on the courthouse lawn at 6 p.m. The lighting ceremony will be followed by the Home tours, offering an exciting view of three wonderfully decorated homes in the area. Tickets for the home tours can be purchased at Refined/Chamber Office, from Angie Anspach or Bailey Hoover.
In Knox, the tree lighting ceremony and a visit with Santa took place on Dec. 1, and Mayor Rick Chambers and the Community Center Planning Committee thanked several people who either participated or donated items for the ceremony. They expressed their appreciation for Walgreen’s, who took pictures of the visits with Santa at no charge; Santa and his elves; Starke County Choralaires; Tomahawk Jazz Band from Knox Community School; Knox Middle School Choir; Clint Norem Family; city of Knox police; street and fire departments, who donated cookies; the press; and those who attended.
