Another long-time area school superintendent has submitted his letter of retirement to a school board.
The West Central School Board members received Superintendent Charles Mellon’s letter last week during their regular meeting.
“We did this early so that we could go ahead and pursue a new candidate for my position and move forward in making those decisions as well,” stated Mellon.
The search for a new superintendent is rather lengthy with the advertisement of the opening and a public hearing to approve a contract and the time needed to advertise the contract. With the submission of Mellon’s letter, the corporation can move forward at a quicker pace.
Superintendent Mellon’s contract will end June 30, 2014.
