The North Judson-San Pierre drama department will present Grease: The Musical on May 8, 9, 10 and 11.
Director Erin Sprouse said the musical will mirror the movie.
“The movie was actually based off the play,” said Sprouse. “It’s a lot of fun. We’re doing a lot of the costuming from the movie and trying to keep it as true to form so that everybody is really excited about it.”
Sprouse said if you’re familiar with the movie or the stage production, you’ll be able to sing along to the popular songs.
“‘The Hand Jive’, ‘You’re the One That I Want’ and ‘We go Together” – all of the classics from the movie.”
The cast this musical includes 25 students, including two from the middle school. View the cast list here: Grease Cast List
Sprouse noted that this is one of her favorite musicals and it’s one the students chose as well.
“I really like the show and the music is really great. It happened to fit some of the kids in my choir class. I asked for requests and this was something that they requested and it’s also something that I’ve wanted to do. So, we went ahead with that.”
The musical will take to the stage at 7 p.m. CT Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a matinee on May 11 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults at the door and if you buy them in advance, they are $2 less.
