The Starke County Commissioners are set to hire a new county EMS director. Keith Emigh has served in an interim capacity since Paul Matthewson resigned in July and was one of the applicants for the position. That hiring is one of the items on their agenda for today’s meeting.
They will also discuss work space for the coroner. Incumbent Kris Rannells is not seeking reelection due to term limits, and Democrat Adam Gray is unopposed. He’s the first non-funeral director to seek the office in several years. In the past, the coroners used their own facilities, so this is a new issue.
The commissioners agenda also includes the opening of bids to replace two bridges and the monthly highway department report from superintendent Rik Ritzler. The commissioners will also discuss a proposed change back to HealthLinc for worker’s compensation related medical care and a health board appointee. Today’s meeting starts at 9 a.m. in the commissioners meeting room at the county annex building.
