The Oregon-Davis FFA Crops and Forestry teams competed Saturday in state competition at Purdue University. The Junior High and Senior Crops Teams went through various studies of crops, weed plants, seeds and grain grading for an overall score. The Senior Crops team consisting of four high school students ended the competition with a grade of 34 out of 44 possible points. The Junior High Crops team had three middle school students and received a perfect score.
The Forestry team was represented by Dalton Good. He received 164 out of 200 for identifying tree species by only looking at the seeds, leaves, and wood. A 50-question test graded his knowledge of the respective topics.
Both teams were honored last Friday with a pep rally at the high school for getting a chance to participate at the state level. The Oregon-Davis School Board recognized the efforts of the FFA teams during their meeting Monday night.
