Seasonal camping is allowed at Bass Lake, but year-round storage of campers and other equipment is not. That’s the clarification Starke County Park Board President Marcia Bedrock got from the county commissioners during their meeting yesterday.
President of the Commissioners Jennifer Davis says the campground is not zoned for storage, and everything is to be removed when the amenity closes for the season. Right now there is not a means for enforcing this policy. During the November park board meeting, it was noted that several people who camp seasonally at Bass Lake had their campers delivered there at the time of purchase and do not have a means to move them. The commissioners also noted that year-round patrons of private campgrounds like Jellystone own their campsites and pay property taxes on them.
