The search is ongoing to fill the vacancy for Town Manager in Winamac.

Interviews with potential candidates are anticipated to be held today. An announcement on a new Town Manager could be made during Monday night’s Winamac Town Board meeting.

Newly appointed Board President Kenneth McFarland says they are looking for someone with an administrative background.

“We also would like for him to have knowledge of the four utilities that we have, electric, water, waste water, and street,” says McFarland.

The Town Manager position became available after the Board terminated the employment of Jim Conner in November. He served Winamac for about 15 years.

The search is taking place now that Conner’s compensation and benefits have ended as of December.

McFarland says the applicant offered the Town Manager job will wear many hats.

“Basically the manager, sir or lady, I guess they’re all men, is going to be the

zoning administrator of the town,” says McFarland. “Basically they’ll hover over it all.”

A potential pool of six candidates was recently reviewed, but only three applicants are currently being considered.

If interviews cannot be completed today, the Winamac Town Board says they have reserved time to carry the interviews over into Thursday.
