A verdict was returned late yesterday afternoon in a jury trial in Starke Circuit Court.
Jason Hansen was found guilty on a charge of domestic battery as a Class D felony and not guilty on a charge of criminal mischief.
Six jurors and an alternate heard testimony from seven witnesses provided by the State. The defense did not have any witnesses, and Hansen did not testify.
The incident stemmed from an incident at a home in which Hansen and his wife shared in April of last year. Hansen grabbed his wife by the hair and banged her head against the wall repeatedly and did it in the presence of children who are less than 16 years of age.
A verdict was returned in less than an hour.
A sentencing hearing is tentatively set for this morning at 11 a.m. The hearing date and time may be adjusted.
