Head to Weinberg Gym in Knox tonight for “trick-hoops and alley-oops” courtesy of the Harlem Wizards. The legendary exhibition basketball team will take on “The Tribe” – a team comprised of local celebrities in a fundraiser for the Knox High School Band Boosters. Director Craige Phipps says general admission, reserve seat and meet-and-greet tickets are available.
Phipps says the Harlem Wizards play exhibition-style hoops similar to the Harlem Globetrotters but with a significant difference. The Globetrotters bring their own team, The Generals, while the Wizards face local opponents. In this case “The Tribe” is a team of local celebrities, including WKVI’s own morning show host Tom Berg and sports director Nathan Welter.
Advance tickets are available at all of the Knox schools, Osborne’s Mini Mart and the Specialty Shop. They can also be purchased at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the game starts at 7. Find more information online at www.harlemwizards.com.
