The Knox Board of Public Works opened two bids for the 50/50 sidewalk program.
The members unanimously accepted the lowest bid from Pete Kuchel in the amount of $14,691. All of the bidding information will be reviewed by Street Superintendent Jeff Borg and City Attorney David Matsey to ensure it conforms to specifications.
Seven property owners sent letters to the city asking to have their sidewalks replaced with half of their cost payable by the City. Those locations include 75 West John Street, 3 East Mound, 201 South Main Street, 353 East Lake Street, 606 South Main Street, 502 West Ellis Street, and 408 South Shield Street.
The city budgeted $10,000 for the program and the bid approved will be covered under that line item.
